![]() This is the season of thankfulness and giving. Consider giving yourself the gift of self compassion. One way that you can start practicing self compassion is by saying something positive as you stand in front of the mirror. Instead of pointing at your stomach with disgust or analyzing your face for wrinkles, try saying "People love me for who I am, not what I look like," or "I am more than my body." Repeat this whenever you see your reflection-in a window, elevator or walking between parked cars. Make this your best gift this holiday.

Building confidence is really hard. But it's 10x harder when we only focus on the negatives and magnify flaws and disregard positive things about ourselves. It can be difficult at first to believe positive things about your appearance, so I find that an easier place to start is what you like about your personality. Try to make a list of what you like about yourself. If you can't think of anything, try to remember what other people have said about you, and see if you agree.

You would be amazed on the days you do try to say a few positive things how much your mood for the day will change!
